Provenance

Provenance is the paper trail. For every take it records what made it, what went in, when, and what it cost — written as the work happens, not reconstructed afterwards.

You need this when someone asks how a shot was produced: a client, a broadcaster, a festival, or a lawyer. It is also how you work out what you actually did six weeks ago.

• See the full history of any take.
• Download the record as a file you can send on.
• Download a single take together with its own record attached.
• Read the whole project's history as a list.

1. Open Provenance from the project sidebar.
2. Find the take you need the history for.
3. Read what made it and what went in.
4. Download the record if you need to send it on.

The record is added to and never rewritten. Deleting a take does not erase its history.
